ASR Group is pleased to announce that Ben Sadler, our Real Estate Counsel, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches, marking another step for Ben in his dedication to public service and volunteerism.
“Community involvement is essential to who I am as a person,” Ben said. “You can’t be a taker in life. You have to be a giver.”
We are proud to have many employees like Ben, who exemplify our commitment to support our local communities.
Ben’s mother’s family was involved in the sugar industry in Cuba, and many of his cousins continue to work in our industry, which is known locally for supporting many generations of employees. “I always wanted to work in the sugar business,” he said. “I wake up grateful every day. This is such an amazing organization to be affiliated with.”
Ben began working for ASR Group in 2018. He received his law degree from the University of South Carolina in 1997, and joined the Army after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, receiving a direct commission as a Judge Advocate. In the military, Ben learned about servant leadership, a concept that shaped the way he looks at his work.
He retired from the reserves two years ago after representing his fellow soldiers, including entire units and their members, and serving as a special victims counsel.
Ben has been married for nearly 19 years and has three children ages 16, 14 and 12. He volunteers with the Boy Scouts of America and has served as an assistant leader or leader of his son’s troop. He also volunteers with the North Palm Beach Rowing Club, where all three of his children competitively participate, and he is on the vestry of his church, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in downtown West Palm Beach.
Participating in food distribution events with our company is one of the most rewarding aspects of his job, Ben said.
“I really think those are a fantastic opportunity for the community to see what a giving organization this is,” he said.
Ben is the latest member of our team to serve on the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches’ Board: Evelyn Hopkins served the organization for 11 years, including representing our company on the board and as its chairwoman.
Ben encourages his community to take advantage of volunteer opportunities whenever available.
“The return on investment is incredible,” he said. “The time you spend is paid back tenfold in gratitude.”
