Share: Facebook twitter Linkedin ASR Group’s Belleville Plant helped brighten the holidays for our neighbors in need. The Belleville Plant’s Sustainability Committee held a food drive in December for Gleaners Food Bank, collecting more than 300 pounds of donated nonperishable food items to help local families facing food insecurity. “Food insecurity is a serious problem in Canada that negatively impacts physical, mental and social health,” said Sr. Distribution Coordinator Shannon Reeves, who organized the food drive. “We were happy to support the Food Bank’s important work meeting the growing need for food in our community, and we are grateful to all of our employees who participated in the drive.” The Belleville Plant’s Sustainability Committee also organized a clothing drive as part of the Quinte West Adopt-a-Child program held each holiday season. The drive, spearheaded by Operations Coordinator Dianne Little, helped provide three siblings in our community with indoor outfits, pajamas, socks and underwear. “The Adopt-a-Child program has been going strong in our community for more than 30 years, and we were proud to take part in it,” said Dianne. “Through the generosity of our employees, not only were we able to provide clothing for the three children we adopted, but we also made a donation to support the program.” In addition to the Committee’s recent drives, the Belleville Plant also supported our community over the holidays by donating four cases of our hot chocolate to our neighbors celebrating a local holiday tradition: the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train. “The decorated train brings holiday cheer to towns across Canada and raises money, food and awareness for local food banks,” said EHS Manager Daniele Siebert. “We were happy to help our neighbors enjoy this holiday tradition.”
