Share: Facebook twitter Linkedin ASR Group was pleased to participate in the recent Sugar Industry Technologists (SIT) annual meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, where four employees presented papers showcasing our thought leadership and highlighting some of our continuous improvement success stories. SIT, an industry trade association, works to improve the operations of the sugar refining industry by facilitating collaboration on scientific information about the management and technical aspects of sugar refining and encouraging original research in this field. John Kerr, our Vice President of Research & Technology, is the current president of the association. We were pleased to have several of our team members share their expertise at the gathering, including Juan Carlos Carbonell, Process Technical Manager at the Crockett Refinery; Jesse Williams, Sr., Process Engineer at the Yonkers Refinery; George Carter, Baltimore Refinery Manager; Patrick Coterillo, Process Engineer at the Baltimore Refinery; Michael Burchell, Senior Director of Global Corporate Quality and past President of SIT; and Brent Woodman, Corporate Reliability Director. Congratulations to George, who was presented with the 2023 SIT Crystal Award – the top award given by SIT recognizing individuals who have contributed notably to the technological advancement of the sugar refining industry. As SIT President, John Kerr presented the award and said, “It was great to end my presidency of the SIT this year by presenting George Carter with his well-deserved SIT Crystal award. George has delivered several high caliber papers to the SIT.”
